This Week In Rob

Rob Friday Reaches 2000 Views!

January 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Rob Friday hit the 2000 mark!

It might not be a huge milestone for some, but I’m still happy.

About half the views still belong to my review of the final premiere of ER. And I’ve been surprised by all the hits for my review of the worst new show this season: Crusoe. I’m happy that people have taken some interest in the new CBC show Being Erica, but even happier that I found out that it’s online. And I’m sad that no one seemed to care about Pushing Daisies, one of the best shows this year (why do the good ones die so young).

So thanks for visiting and enjoy the Winter premieres.

Being Erica Premiere

January 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So here’s the gist of the show: There’s a thirty-something girl who’s pretty, smart and relatively sane. Seems like a great girl, except everything in her life goes wrong resulting in her being lonely, unemployed and living in Toronto.

Oh if only she was five years younger and I was five years older, I’d think I’d have found my soulmate.

After an accident involving nut allergies and a free sample of hazelnut mochalatte, she ends up in a hospital where she meets a mysterious therapist who offers her the chance to change her past. He has some kind of magical power that lets Erica go into the past and redo her mistakes. READ MORE

South Park Zone

November 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Obviously this isn’t for everyone, but if you like South Park or just want to see an episode with a lot of hype around it (like the Scientology one or the World of Warcraft one that won an Emmy) you should check out the South Park Zone. They have every episode of the series. I don’t know how legal it is and the quality isn’t as good as at South Park Studios, so I guess you have to follow your moral compass or choose whether you dislike annoying commercials or an annoying pop-up from Party Poker more. With South Park zone you do not have wait a month to watch recent episodes online.

If you live in Canada, the Comedy Network has the legitimate online episodes. Also you do not have to wait one month to see recent episodes. Downside is that the video is either small or poor quality.

Quantum of Solace Review

November 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I saw Quantum of Solace this past Friday. It was good, but not as awesome as Casino Royale was. Here’s my full review.

And there have been a few Heroes reviews if you like:

Chapter 8: Villians

Chapter 7: Eris Quod Sum

Keeping Shoe Laces Tied

November 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve always had trouble with show laces. I never could tie them properly as a kid and I still have trouble with shoe laces as an adult. No matter how tight or how evenly I tie my shoes they inevitably come undone.

Puzzlehunts are Awesome!

November 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The College Puzzle Challenge happened a couple weekends ago. I have participated in it for the past few times and it has been one of my favourite things all year. If you don’t know what a puzzle hunt is, it’s basically a big puzzle competition where you do a lot of puzzles. The answers to those puzzles then combine to help solve a meta-puzzle.

Why I am a Lutheran

October 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The short explanation is that I grew up in a Lutheran Church. However, I like to think that I would have become a Lutheran even if I was not raised as a Lutheran. I agree with the principles of the church and I share the same beliefs. I also think that Martin Luther was a great man who changed the world. So what is so great about being a Lutheran? Well I give a more detailed explanation below. READ MORE

Survivor and Crusoe are Two Great Comedies

October 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This week I laughed a lot.

The Crusoe Premiere was funny. Not good funny, but I got to release a lot a steam in my rant about it.

Survivor was bad funny. I like laughing at stupid Americans stuck in the wild, but some of the scenes in this past weeks episode were bad even by Survivor standards for people.

Of course I also reviewed Heroes. It was mildy surprising, but watch it this Monday, it’s definitely going to be a shocker (Commercials showed Kristen Bell back (they better not kill her)!).

Dealing with Job Rejection

October 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was rejected from a job recently. I realize that it is not the end of the world but it still kind of ruined my day. So I ate some junk food and watched some TV. That may not be the best way to deal with it, so I tried to looked for some answers online. I found three websites with some good advice:

Medieval Times: $20 off Deal

October 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well almost $20. The deal is that adults pay kids price. So it’s $43.50 instead of $62.95. The deal lasts until Nov. 2, 2008, so you have 2 weeks left. I believe you have to order the tickets online. Check the website for details (the deal is at the bottom).

So if you have never gone or haven’t gone in awhile, I suggest you go. It’s a good show, you get lots of food and you get to eat with your hands.
